Mandeville Elementary Library

Mission Statement

The Mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. This mission is accomplished by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats, by providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas, and by working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students
(Information Power, 1998).

Library Procedures

Kindergarten students may check out one fiction book each week.
1st grade students may check out two books (2 fiction or 1 fiction and 1 non fiction).
2nd and 3rd grade students may check out 2 books (2 fiction or 1 fiction and 1 non fiction) or a book and a magazine.

Books and magazines must be returned each week before the student is allowed to check out any other items. If a book or magazine is lost or damaged, the replacement cost must be paid. This fee must be paid before the child will be allowed to check out additional books. This includes any items not returned from last year. Once paid, the cost of lost books later found will not be reimbursed. The student may keep the book or donate it back to the library.
