Student Projects
MES was a recipient of the Louisiana Education Quality Trust Fund-8(g) Grant for the school years 2002 - 2005. With this funding, MES was able to keep up with the many technological demands of today. This grant helped our teachers become better educators and our students life long learners. Below you will see a summary of each year's expenditures.
Year 1:
Full-time certified computer teacher, state of the art computer lab with 24 iMac computers, 12 HP color printers, 1 laser printer, a scanner, a digital camcorder, Earobics program before and after school for qualifying students, and educational software.
Year 2
Full-time certified computer teacher, LCD projector, 34 Compaq computers with Windows XP and Office XP for classrooms, 24 HP color inkjet printers, educational software, 12 external floppy disk drives, 3 HP 850 digital cameras, Earobics program before and after school for qualifying students, job-embedded training daily, two six hour technology training days for all teachers at ITC.
Year 3:
Full-time certified computer teacher, LCD projector, SmartBoard Interactive Whiteboard, 34 Compaq computers with Windows XP and Office XP, one HP Color laserjet printer for WINGS lab, 5 HP color inkjet printers, Earobics before and after school program, job-embedded training daily, two six hour technology training days days for all teachers, Destination Reading Early Literacy software for the WINGS lab.
During each quarter students complete a project aligned with their classroom curriculum. Students were exposed to and became familiar with various productivity tools such as, Kidspiration, Inspiration, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, MS Excel, Timeliner, Storybook Reader and Kid Pix Studio Deluxe. Much of the students' research was completed online using Internet Explorer.
