We are located in the heart of old Mandeville nestled among the beautiful oaks and pines of the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain. Mandeville Elementary opened its doors in 1966 to approximately 350 students in grades first, second, third, and fourth. We have approximately 550 students in kindergarten through third grades. MES offers a diverse curriculum that reaches the academic, artistic, social, and physical well-being of all students. Students receive instruction in self contained classrooms. Students that qualify receive special education instruction as well as classes for the gifted, talented music, talented art, and talented theater. Our theme for 2007-2008 school year is " MES—A Palette for Learning—Engaging Imaginations! MES is a community working for a common goal of educational excellence. This correlates with our receiving the United States Department of Education, National School of Excellence Award in 1999.
